Why consider a secure, inpatient treatment facility?
From the Director

Behavioral health treatment has seen extraordinary progress just in the last few years. A broad variety of options of very effective treatments are available. It can be confusing, particularly in a time of difficulty, to know the best option.

When it comes to inpatient psychiatric care, a few guiding principles can help. Ensuring patient, family, or community safety is one reason to choose this approach. If a person's behavioral symptoms render him or her dangerous to one's self or others, a secure treatment setting such as Mingus Center may be indicated.

Outpatient psychiatric care, particularly when coupled with supportive services (case management, individual and group counseling, etc) is frequently very effective. Sometimes this approach, however, can take a good deal of time to reach the desired effects. Under these conditions, a more aggressive course of treatment may be indicated.

At Mingus Center, we are configured to provide this more assertive approach in a 24-hour, secure, medically supervised environment which affords the safest and most timely realization of profound improvement in psychiatric symptoms. What might take weeks or months in the outpatient approach often can be realized in a few to several days at Mingus Center. This approach often can be the more cost effective, as well.
